No. It's with the opinion of the users of themselves...

People were confused by all the options they added. And if you ever
tried nautilus1, then you know that it was _very_ easy to revert to
the easy menus - but people are not willing to use the easier menus.

It is desireable to keep a lot of (otherwise confusing) options from
users until they've read the documentation ;)

In the mouse preferences? Just give a mouse button the ability to
understand gestures.
