Most of the time, popups are annoying ads for pc cameras and the like. But there are lots of sites that use Javascript popup windows legitimately. To deal with this, I suggest the Toggle to allow popups be moved from the Settings->Filters dialog to the Toolbar. Further, this Toggle would Blink and make a Sound whenever a popup is defeated, indicating that the web site tried to put one up. This way, if a site is supposed to put up popups as part of its interface (e.g. a site that shows thumbnails of images but displays them fullsize in a popup window) the user is made aware why the site is not behaving as expected and can enable them for as long as he/she is viewing that site. A little device called Pop-Up Stopper from http://www.panicware.com running on windoze gave me the idea. It sits as an icon in the toolbar and blinks and makes a squawk each time a popup is put down. Double-clicking the icon disables and re-enables it. Perhaps the other Filters should be moved up front as well, because lots of them (Java, Javascript, etc.) really do need to be selected on a site-by-site basis. -- j ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf
