mutiple binary source

Hi,
  It seems that there are certain ppl who want a simple web browser and
others who want a more advanced tool for web browsing.

I do not see why anyone wants to be able to dynamically change the
functionality at run time; or why people would prefer to selectively
choose what advanced features to include. If I wanted to use the
advanced setting, I would want to see everything to make sure I'm not
missing out.

All programs I have used which implement plugins/extensions are almost
always slow and buggy - they're difficult things to implement and so
take lots of time and effort.


Therefore, what I suggest is that you create a multiple binary package; 
that is a single source tree which can be used to generate two different
flavours of galeon - simple and advanced (or whatever names you choose).
I'm sure it must be possible to do this relatively easily using the c
preprocessor. 
The advantages over a plugin system is that it should be far more
reliable and, more importantly, easier to implement (you should be
concentrating on the web, only the web ;) Also, if you name the binaries
differently, bug reports may become far easier to decipher. 
The advantages over a fork (simple galeon browser v separate advanced
browser) is that both groups would be sharing large amounts of the same
code, and so each providing their own bug fixes an improvements. It may
be more difficult to coordinate the two groups of developers, but it
will often resolve to having the best outcome. (consider it along the
same lines as how you have contributed bug reports/patches to mozilla)
