Paul Dwerryhouse made a nice hack in April 2004 and ported Galeon 1.2.10
to gtk2.  Here's what he said about the task:

interested.

Last time there was no followup on development.  None of those who feel
that 1.2 is superior to 1.3 seem to have the resources to pick up the
development.
