Using either mouse or > keyboard seems more straightforward to me. For years I was a big believer in doing everything from the keyboard. However things have bcome so graphical today that this is impossible. So, I have now arived at the comprimise of doing most everything from the keyboard, but reaching for the ouse to do things like cut and paste. For isntance if I get an interesting URL in an email (I use mutt for email BTW), then I just highlight it with the mouse, move the mouse to the browser, and paste it with the middle mouse button, after typing ^O of course. BTW ^O (which stands for open) makes more sense than ^L.
