I've tried this to no avail. I've have screenshots of both the 1.3.14
and 1.3.20 Tabs section here:

Basically, I've tried to replicate my 1.3.14 settings in the 1.3.20
version (I don't recall the origins of the 1.3.14 settings) but the
tabs remain significantly wider. I tried adding the tabbed_shorten one
as well (as an int) but that had no effect.

A grep through the 1.3.20 source for "tabbed_shorten" turns up
nothing. Was the ability to specify tab width removed sometime between
1.3.14 and 1.3.19?

Though I would really prefer not to, if there is no configuration
option to set the tab width to what fits my needs, I'd be willing to
tweak the code and recompile- any hints as to where this might be set?
