According to freedesktop.org MIME database (/usr/share/mime/packages/freedesktop.org.xml) the MIME type for wmv files is 'video/x-ms-wmv' If there's a MIME type that is not included in the MIME database, you need to write your own xml file in that directory, or in case the MIME type is an 'alias' for an existing MIME type (application/msword ~ application/vnd.ms-word) maybe add the alias declaration in the freedesktop.xml. In both cases you need to run 'update-mime-database' and preferably work with freedesktop.org so that the MIME type that was previously missed gets included at some point.
