Yes, and to the other drop down lists Serif, Sans serif, Cursive and
Fantasy. These seem to be the different font families that can appear on
a web page (though I don't know what "Cursive" and "Fantasy" is meant to
be).

Also check the "Always use my fonts" box, or else some pages will
override your font settings.

That's a pity - but monospace is normally only used for code listings
and other preformatted text.

They are not built into Galeon. As far as I understand, these are fonts
know to Gnome (fontconfig).

Probably you want to have at least Lucida, Bitstream Vera and perhaps
Luxi.
