Galeon extension API?

Does Galeon have some sort of facility for making pluggable extensions to it? I'd really like to (among other things) add a facility where you can change the proxy it uses, from the Web menu. I've made patches for something like this before (http://leapster.org/dev/galeon/), but frankly porting the patch and recompiling every time a new version of galeon is released isn't something that really appeals. IIRC, epiphany had some sort of extension system, didn't it?
