I found a better way -- slightly. The GUI search function -- we *were* talking GUI adjustment, weren't we? -- found it; and a little clicking got me to a GUI presentation of that folder with those files. And in fact, either the GUI "Properties" option or "file /usr/bin/gtweak<whatever> will tell me what kind of file each is. And all of that is absolutely no help whatever. It gives me no idea how to use the fool thing.
