Sorry, I meant to say "just recompile acroread" ;-)

No, there are no missing libraries. If it can't find a library, it says
something like "not found".

Good idea - but you looked only in /usr/lib and below. You could try
"locate nppdf" and perhaps find something in /usr/local/lib, /opt or
even your home directory.
