Hey guys, Adding to what Bharat said, I have a couple other big things I'd like to see, too: - Add a few tweaks to our resize and thumb generation. In particular, it'd be nice to allow metadata stripping, progressive encoding, and jpg conversion. Also wrapped up in here is a bit more work with imagemagick compatibility for some users' installations (disable multi-threading, make version number searching more robust). - Do a Flash->HTML5 conversion. Specifically, swap out uploadify, and add Flowplayer 5. We can't *remove* Flowplayer 3 as then we'll be breaking flv support, but I've seen some demos where people run both (use HTML5 version unless video is Flash, then fall back). - Remove the admin theme, and use overlays/dialogs instead. The last point probably needs a bit more elaboration... Here's my thought: if we compare Gallery's admin approach to that of Drupal and WordPress, we seem to *mostly* fit that of Drupal. Specifically, we embed a lot of admin functionality in the main UI with context menus, etc. I think this is a great fit to Gallery. However, the admin back area remains detached, somewhat more like WordPress. In my opinion, this seems to disrupt the cohesive feel of Gallery, especially once you use a non-Wind theme (since there are zero contributed admin themes AFAIK). It seems like most of the basic building blocks are already in place, and we can even leverage tabs to go between admin screens (again, copying from Drupal). I'd bet we can do this in a way that mostly maintains backward compatibility with existing themes, too. And if it does break old themes a little bit, it makes sense to do this at the same time as the jQuery update. Thoughts?
