I'll get going on the K3 branch asap. It will likely take an attempt or two to figure out the right balance and I have to go off and learn all the new K3isms first. I'm interested in exploring a module installing/updating system. I think in the past we considered putting module dirs in var (iirc, we had a similar system in G2) but I can't remember why we didn't pursue this idea. I want to make sure that the barrier to writing modules remains as low as possible. Either way, I think that's roughly orthogonal to going to K3.
