Using 3.1.6 with HTML::Mason -- possible?

I'm new to ht://Dig -- just got a default installation up and running,
and now I'm looking into the customization of the display pages.

Is anyone using ht://Dig with HTML::Mason and/or mod_perl? I saw that
there was a patch for 3.1.5 issued in 2001 (url-for-template), and was
wondering if that was the only solution, or if there are other ways to
incorporate the Mason handlers into the search page display.

Thanks for any pointers to information.
