The packaging in distributions is outside of tidy developers control.
On our request,
Debian and Ubuntu have updated their tidy distribution.
If you wish a bug to be fixed, you need to report it with a test case.
Then, providing
a patch will definitely help.
The pace of development has slowed down a lot in the last 12 months.
On the other
hand, the number of reported bug has decreased a lot, suggesting that
the quality
 of recent releases is higher and/or tidy is less used.
