Tidy strips <center> tags within <p> tags

Can anyone tell me why Tidy is stripping the <CENTER> tags and how to
prevent it?I am using tidy from within NoteTab 4.95
I am not sure what version of Tidy I have but it was downloaded in the last
8 months and the files size is 304K.
