For a start you can use me as a "proxy".

You'll find all patches, Bugreports and so on that are relevant. Just pick one or more that you'd like to
work on and work with the latest svn trunk from
	http://httpunit.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/httpunit/trunk/httpunit/
(best accessed with a subversion client ...)

Let me know what you are working on by telling me the numbers of Bug reports and patches to avoid 
double work. Direct communication with me is possible via e-mail, phone and skype. If you have 
changes simply send me a set of changed files / diff patches and I'll put them into the subversion 
repository.  You might want to make sure that you follow the coding conventions and create test cases 
for any change you intend to make.

Then you should talk to Russell what he expects from  you to give you committer rights above what I 
wrote.
