This will be a release 2.0 issue with the new 
DomScripting engine. Mark is making progess on this 
that's why I asked him about the status. You are invited 
to join in and switch the scripting engine to see how 
this helps solve your problem.

Tim, Russell and Patrick IMHO the release notes for 1.7 
should state that it's possible already to use the new 
scripting engine to some extent.
