It might well be that there was simply no test case for this before. One of the requests for 1.7 was to get the onClick() an onMouseDown() JavaScript functions better support. The refactoring may well have led to multiple such events being "fired" by the submit button. I remember that one of this multiple fire-situations has been actively be fixed by me. May be there is still another case left. Thanks for your report - I'll look into this.
