Did you mean to say "if the request comes in for directories, rather than files"? Are you overriding the decline_dirs parameter? By default, it is set to 1, meaning that Mason will decline a request if $r->filename is a directory. See ApacheHandler.pm line 828. If this isn't working for you for some reason, let us know.
