Because CVS stinks about renaming -- that is, it's a major overhaul -- this would be a major task phased in over time. I do like Mike's and Danny's suggestions. Right now tools, apps, servers and libraries are split up by platform, like so: kn_ for js, python_pubsub/ for python, php_pubsub/ for php, cgi-bin/ for perl, ruby_pubsub/ for ruby, cxx_pubsub/ for c++, c_pubsub/ for c, etc. In the new layout, we'd have to think through what goes where. cgi-bin/ , for example, would move to perl_pubsub/ and soap_pubsub/ . kn_sense/ would move to perl_pubsub/ . Etc. Also, at what point is "pubsub" in those directories redundant? For example, why not have the top level called mod_pubsub (or pubsub, as danny suggested) and below that have: apps/ <---- put JavaScript apps here? c/ cxx/ docs/ java/ js/ <---- put JavaScript libraries here? php/ perl/ python/ ruby/ soap/ tools/ Hmmm. Will have to think about this more.
