Re: utf-8 fonts and web mail

You probably need to set the encoding of the email itself. By default this option is off. In Opera 10, do this to change it:

Compose a new message.
Right click in the area where you'd type, and choose Show Fields > Encoding. This should cause a drop-down menu to appear to the right of the "To" column.
Change the encoding there. You can try for a generic Russian encoding type, or you can switch it to UTF-8 and see if it works. UTF isn't always as ideal as it should be, though...

It's possible to permanently change the default encoding type for a mail account (different mail accounts can have different defaults). It's also possible to have that encoding field permanently switched on (again, on a per-account basis). Those options can be found by hunting around the mail account preferences. Or it's possible that I'm forgetting something - the encoding field might stay on with the mail account that you switched it on for, until you toggle it back off. It's been so long since I turned it on that I've forgotten the behavior...
