It's not that bad ... if you turn off the menu bar then you can turn it back on from the big red O on the left end of the tab bar. But ... if you have turned off the tab bar you are not entirely stuffed ... right click on any bar that you still have showing to get into 'appearance' and then you can turn back on the tab bar which you can then use to turn on the menu bar. Oh dear, oh dear ... why can't I turn the menu bar back on directly from the 'appearance' panel? I quite like the way the tab bar is moved up into the blue 'windows' space but it's sad that stops when the personal bar is turned on. I guess I will have to see if I can live with the personal bar at the bottom instead of at the top :-) One thing I don't like ... in 10.2 with the menu bar off, the menus are very clearly shown as a separate column via the button on the left end of the tab bar (it's not a big red O in 10.2 so I didn't call it that!) ... in 10.5 I think everything from the menu bar is there, but it's sort of jumbled in with everything so clear "Menu > Tools > xyz" won't work.
