Maybe I don't completely see the need for what you are requesting when one can merely right click your link and select "Open in New Tab" or "Open in Background Tab". I only use the "Copy Link Address" and either "Paste" or "Paste and Go" if I don't want to open a new tab right at that time but later on in my session.
