Yes you are allowed, nitpicks aside the GPL says something like:

[i]Anyone can tak your code and do whatever they like with it as long as they license the result under the same conditions....[/i]

You will not get sued, not as long as you stick to the GPL.

But GPL does not say: 
[i]...and you will let them use you dsicussion board to plan and discuss forking your code.[/i]
or even

I know nothing more about the the teams decisions or policies about deleting posts in the forum, or their attitude wrt to forks than can be read in the forums but I'm pretty sure that sums it up.
