UPS do's & don'ts

I am new to OSC, so maybe someone has dealt with this issue.  I am a warehouse manager and know the costs associated with various UPS shipments.  Ideally, OSC should calculate cost based on the goal of no box weighing over 70 Lbs.  Why?  B/c it takes 2 humans instead of 1 to move that box, for liability reasons.  Therefore, the cost to ship a box weighing 71 Lbs. or more is too high.

Additionally, UPS calculates cost based on dimensional weight.  Dimensional weight is a means of setting cost based on how much volume the box takes up.  It is a measure of the girth + height (refer to ups.com for pretty pictures/diagrams of this concept.  UPS has 3 dimensional weight classes -- less than 30 Lbs., 30-70 Lbs., and more than 70 Lbs.  What does this mean?  I forget the exact size requirements for the 30 Lb. dimensional weight, but let's say you ship a box that, regardless of its wieght, falls into to 30-70 Lb. dimensional weight category.  You will pay the minimum fee of a 30Lb rate even if the box weighs 1 Lb.  This is because its dimensional weight overrides its weight in Lbs.

OSC would, ideally, let the store owner set the dimensions of each box that it uses.  Each product would have an attribute (or a couple) that would classify its volume, whether it can be packed with any item, no item, or only specific items, etc.
