Any chance of a solution for non-MySQL users? :)

I haven't looked into it but other than optimizing the SQL queries do
you have any other ideas that are more generic and could be more easily
ported to other database? The first thing that comes to mind is
optimizing the SQL queries but my guess is that your queries are already
optimzed as much as possible.
