Re: Trougleshooting .alb files

Alon,

If you search through back posts in this group, you will find a couple
of places where I have outlined what is stored in the .alb files
versus what goes in the database.

Very briefly, anything that pertains to only 1 album goes in the .alb
file. Information that cuts across albums is stored in the database. 

For all intents and purposes, the .alb file is the one and only true
place where narratives and captions are stored. That is by design.
Contrary to what you believe, the .alb files were not intended to be
"user manipulable". If I had wanted users to edit .alb files directly,
I would not have made them XML. Only Pixory should write .alb files.
The reason Pixory stores this information in separate .XML files is as
a failsafe. In case Pixory malfunctions or you decide to stop using
Pixory, you still have access to all of your information in a textual
form (as opposed to locked in some database you can't get at). 

Pixory has no function to restore .alb files. The information is not
reliably stored anywhere else in Pixory. It's the responsibility of
the users to back up there .alb files.
