For example, I have just started using Adobe Elements to index and archive my photos. So I assume I will have to backup my .alb files separately? Wow, that would be a chore. How would I back them up and track what folder they came from? Unless I backup my full folder structure, pics, albs, and all. But then I am either backing it up twice (once manually and once with Elements) or I lose the functionality of Adobe Elements or like software. It seems to me this a drawback of the current structure of the alb files. = =20 =20 Restoring manually seems quit difficult. For example, after updating some narratives in the album where I lost my previous narratives, the alb file was created new at the next startup of Pixory. So I copied and pasted the contents of the old alb into the new alb file from <name> down. Now upon another restart the alb file has again been recreated. Thereby dropping my previous settings and narratives again. And as previously noted, simply renaming the old .alb does not do the trick (I assume because of the <name> field in the xml). =20 Contrary to what you believe, I do not believe .alb files should be =93user manipulable.=94 I am just stating what I see as a fact. Since data is sto= red in the .alb files, the .alb will get screwed up sometimes and will need to be manually edited or restored, especially since Pixory is beta. So the restore process should be more intuitive. =20 I understand the Pixory has no built in function to restore the .alb files, however, I see no reliable manual method either. Very briefly, anything that pertains to only 1 album goes in the .alb file. Information that cuts across albums is stored in the database.=20 For all intents and purposes, the .alb file is the one and only true place where narratives and captions are stored. That is by design. Contrary to what you believe, the .alb files were not intended to be "user manipulable". If I had wanted users to edit .alb files directly, I would not have made them XML. Only Pixory should write .alb files. The reason Pixory stores this information in separate .XML files is as a failsafe. In case Pixory malfunctions or you decide to stop using Pixory, you still have access to all of your information in a textual form (as opposed to locked in some database you can't get at).=20 Pixory has no function to restore .alb files. The information is not reliably stored anywhere else in Pixory.
