Hi, have you given any thought to supporting progressive jpegs? http://www.unimelb.edu.au/public/www-faq/pjpeg.htm "Progressive" JPEG is a new variation on the JPEG image format. Progressive JPEGs are like interlaced GIFs in that they "fade in" gradually instead of being drawn from top to bottom. This enables the viewer to understand what the image is about very quickly." Mozilla seems to have quite good support for progressive jpegs, whilst ie just treats them as normal jpegs. I don't think that there is a significant difference in the image file sizes either.
