Gil,

Alon is correct in saying that you are not missing anything-- pixory
is missing the ability to run as a service. I think this is actually
covered in the faq somewhere.

Someone on this list already solved the
startup-folder-launches-browser problem, but I can't seem to find
their post now.

If I remember correctly, their solution involved creating some kind of
a .bat file which will launch pixory, and placing that .bat file in
the startup folder. The command in the .bat file would look like this:

java -Djava.awt.headless=true -jar pixory.jar

When pixory is run "headless", it does not launch a browser, because
it assumes that it is running on a server machine.
