Hi Jock! I do not know why the initialization routine was done that way (maybe for security reasons? Joe will know ;), but once I knew this restriction, I simply could solve the issue. I also installed the software on a remote box, so I used X forwarding of ssh to put a very simple browser (was a quite outdated netscape) on my desktop and let it point to 127.0.0.1. Maybe this is a solution for you as well.
