Hola,
> security reasons? Joe will know ;), but once I knew this
Yep, it was security. I was worried by the idea that a naive user
could launch Pixory for the first time, fail to configure it, and then
forget about it while leaving it running. Then the Pixory installation
would be a sort-of remote directory browser (not a general browser,
but it would allow you to see any of the supported image file types).
However, maybe I was a little overzealous? I didn't guess that this
restriction would create so many problems for so many people. In fact,
I'm constantly suprised that so many people run Pixory in their own
app servers-- more people download the app server package than the OSX
package!
One thing I could do is introduce a java "system property" that would
allow remote setups. This property would default to "don't allow", but
a savvy Pixory user could set it to "allow". Any Pixory user who is
knowledgeable enough to know how to change Java system properties is
knowledgeable enough to accept the security implications of allowing
remote setups ;)
How does this sound?
regards,
joe
