Jock, I do seem to remember this discussed somewhere (can't remember where). I'll add this to the FAQ. Incidentally, a while back I was looking for a *cheap* hosting company that could run java Servlets/Applications. My current hosting company, NearlyFreeSpeech.net, is great but they only support PHP. Have you found a hosting company that does Servlets?
