Problem with regexps

When processing the forbidden file

.\+googlesynd.\+
.\+pagead2.\+
"""
it says: 
Couldn't compile regex: 8.
Couldn't compile regex: 8.

The question is that polipo doesn't treat regexp well.
I've tried .+ .* , are there any examples ?
Probably I'm missing something.
