This means that Polipo has stopped without cleaning up after itself --
and hence left a file /var/run/polipo.pid.  It usually means that
Polipo crashed, but it can also mean that your system was not shutdown
cleanly.

I'm going to release Polipo 1.1.0 as soon as possible, this will
hopefully fix the crashes you appear to be suffering from.
