I have no idea.  I keep hoping someone will step up as the plugin czar, 
take charge, create a new project around it, go through the plugins, fix 
their documentation, make them easier for users to use, fix whatever bugs 
are there, and then package it up and distribute it accordingly.

It's not a great situation for us to be in.  On the one hand, we could 
keep the contributed plugins with the pyblosxom releases.  I think we've 
done that extremely poorly to date.  For example, who went and checked all 
the plugins we've been distributing for the last few pyblosxom releases to 
make sure they work?  Who's gone through and fixed the documentation and 
made sure the plugins meet the standards we have?  Who's taking ownership 
for fixing the bugs in those plugins?

As far as I can tell, with a couple of exceptions, those plugins are in an 
unknown condition.  I figure I have enough time and inclination to deal 
with pyblosxom core (though I'm doing a mediocre job at that).  I 
definitely don't have enough time to make sure all the contributed (i.e. 
dumped on us) plugins are functional, documented, and work as advertised.

So that's why we are where we are now.  I'm hoping someone picks up the 
slack, deals with the plugins and creates a plugin pack or something along 
those lines.  If no one does it, then we're in the position where people 
maintain their own plugins on their own web-sites.  I'm pretty ok with 
that--I don't think it's a really terrible thing given that we have a 
plugin registry.

So that's where we are.  I don't have any ideas on how it should work, 
except that I don't want them with the pyblosxom core for a whole variety 
of reasons.

If someone wanted to do a user-friendly pyblosxom distribution that has 
the contributed plugins all installed and ready to go--that's cool with 
me.  Be imaginative.  Figure out what the mission should be.  That's what 
I'm hoping someone (or a group of someones) will step up and do.  I'm 
tempted to spin off a mailing list for the new project, but I'll probably 
wait until someone steps up to head it.


So, to summarize, I don't know what the plan is to handle plugins moving 
forward.
