Hi. Just few generic comments. While I am still in the process of looking at the code, making occasional inquiries to the current API and writing small example programs, and therefore hardly being able to say anything specific, I am impressed of the overall stripped approach. (Oh, one thing; are things like generateRandStr really needed in the base of PyBlosxom?) Ryan could not have said it better: the loosely integrated callback functions are excellent way to proceed in my opinion. Stripping down the already pretty stripped core codebase would also make things much easier for beginners like me or more generally for any third-party investigator. If simplicity, extensibility and community are the keywords, fostering the first two is always a good thing, even if it breaks few blogs.
