I know I've thought about this issue.  Static rendering needs to be able 
to ask plugins for additional urls to render.  I don't think anything 
has been implemented to fix it, though.

I'll put that on the list of things to look into for 1.6.

Incidentally, the rough TODO list is in the TODO file.
