Are flavours now stored in directories? It looks like you're saying
that some newer version of pyblosxom then 1.0 stores its flavours in
flavour/{head,story,foot,content_type} instead of the 1.0
{head,story,foot,content_type}.flavour. If that's the case, great!
If not, then may I suggest that?
Because then, you can switch flavours just by changing a symlink.

Well, given that there are only two flavours in the registry, I'd lean
to the "too much time and effort" side.

"dozens"? According to Google, there are 182 pages that link to
http://pyblosxom.sourceforge.net/blog, and 1,490 pages that link to
http://roughingit.subtlehints.net/pyblosxom/ (one of which is
yours--the "powered by pyblosxom" badge links there).
