Just a quick follow-up, it was a bug on the Akismet folk's side so you
should revert your change to your plugin:

  http://akismet.com/blog/2006/11/blank-response-bug/

Your first fix though, the fact that I forgot to import the exception,
is still important so I'll release a new version that fixes that this
week.
