Hello all,

I was reading the book Programming the Semantic Web and they use
FOAF as an example quite often. In one place there is an application that
crawls foaf files to create a graph. It uses a python script. They said
not to use more than 4 steps deep for finding other foaf files to build a
graph of who knows who and I think that is only an issue if one is using an
api that is part of a community website. In this case it was the hi5.com
community site and their foaf files that they create for members. Has
anyone done something that used a much deeper search to bring in many
different foaf files in creating a larger graph?

Can anyone recommend applications where FOAF has been used. practical
applications where one uses the Graph of triples that define what is known
and do something with that?

Lastly, in getting well linked, as it were, is it proper etiquette to ask
someone to add a link to you and your foaf file with a foaf:knows on their
foaf file, with a promise to reciprocate? Or would people find that
spamming?

I did setup a group on LinkedIn to facilitate sharing of foaf files and
connecting. It is named FOAF.

Thanks,

Bruce
