[Sigia-l] [JOB] Senior User-Experience Expert, Herndon, VA

This is a full time, on-site, salaried Senior User-Experience Expert
position located in Herndon, VA paying a salary of $115,000 to $140,000
depending on experience + benefits. No telecommuting allowed. US Citizens or

The position requires expert design skills as they apply to information
architecture, user workflow, usability, and website/web app interaction. The
candidate must possess a thorough understanding of interaction design
principles and best practices, with a strong understanding of how visual and
interaction design work together to create a user experience. The candidate
must have strong analytical skills and be able to understand and apply both
qualitative and quantitative data. He/She will be well-versed in user
research practices and understand how they are best used within a fast-paced
environment. Looking for highly organized candidate with significant
experience managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines effectively
under pressure while balancing speed and quality. Ideal candidates will
possess strong collaboration and influencing skills, excellent grammatical
skills and the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.

 
RESPONSIBILITIES: 

- Develop detailed wireframes, flowcharts, mockups, and other product
deliverables to effectively communicate designs and product requirements 
- Employ user-centered design practices to create world-class interactive
web experiences 
- Define, develop, and document all front-end design requirements for all
projects 
- Serve as the business lead for front-end product decisions 
- Work closely with engineering and QA during the development process 
- Write easy-to-read and comprehensive documentation 
- Conduct user research, such as usability studies, paper prototype studies,
ethnographic field studies, and surveys 
- Understand how to appropriately apply both qualitative and quantitative
research findings in design and business problem-solving 
- Work with cross-functional teams to find balanced solutions to complex
user, business and technical challenges 
- Develop expert-level knowledge of competitive and complementary
products/experiences and bring new ideas to the team 
- Work seamlessly with the team to develop and maintain site branding and
visual design 

Work Experience	- REQUIREMENTS: 

- 6+ years experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer,
user interface designer, or similar role 
- 2+ years experience in web-based e-Commerce user experiences 
- A strong portfolio or samples of interaction design work demonstrating
experience and relevant, user-centered designs 
- Solid familiarity with HTML, CSS, AJAX, Flash, Flex 
- Proficiency in a variety of design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator,
Fireworks, Visio, and Dreamweaver 
- Experience with Drupal will be a plus 
- Rapid prototyping skills, web application experience, and experience
developing UI's for websites are a plus 
- Experience conducting qualitative user research. Experience in more
methodologies beyond usability studies a plus 
- Outstanding communication (written and verbal), presentation, and
interpersonal skills 
- Results-driven, able to initiate and lead projects 
- The ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously and multi-task in a
dynamic environment 
- Outstanding attention to detail 
- Strong problem solving ability 

Education and Training - MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or higher in
Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science or related
field. Masters' degree preferred.
