*FINAL CALL FOR PAPERS: Knowledge Organization - Pushing the Boundaries* *ISKO-UK BIENNIAL CONFERENCE – 8/9 July 2013, London* Please take this final opportunity to submit your proposal for a paper at the third biennial conference of the UK Chapter of ISKO. Previous ISKO-UK conferences have attracted a worldwide audience, and the 2013 event should again provide the ideal forum for presenting your work. The deadline for submission of abstracts, previously 30 November, has now been extended until 9 December 2012. Full details are at http://www.iskouk.org/conf2013/index.htm *Conference theme and topics* On the general theme of “pushing the boundariesâ€, some boundaries that deserve challenge include: - between research and practice: how to achieve better synergy? - between one type of KOS and another, e.g. between thesauri and terminologies - between knowledge management professionals and IT professionals - between one scientific discipline and another (with new knowledge taking shape at the boundary) - between the resources on the Web and those behind our firewalls. In confronting any of the above, or indeed a boundary of your own choice, a contribution on any KO topic is welcome, especially if it helps us advance. Topics currently of interest include: - Linked open data initiatives - Metadata management - Ontologies applied to knowledge engineering - Searching in a networked environment - Evolution of social media - Transmedia narrative - Semantic modelling - Vocabulary crosswalks and registries - Organizing and integrating images. *Submissions* Proposals should be submitted in English via the Abstract submission page (http://www.iskouk.org/conf2013/abstractsubmissions.htm), by 9 December 2012 at latest. Please provide an abstract of 300-500 words, and indicate whether you plan a short or long presentation, or a poster. You will be informed by 1 February 2013 whether your proposal has been accepted. For publication on the website, your full paper should be submitted by 2 July 2013. Editorial guidelines will be available from February 2013, on the conference website. Presentation slides too should be submitted by 2 July 2013. They will be pre-loaded on the conference PC, and released on the conference website immediately after the event. *More background* You can see past and future events at http://www.iskouk.org/events.htm, most with MP3 recordings. The proceedings of our first and second biennial conferences are available in electronic media at http://www.iskouk.org/conf2009/proceedings.htm and http://www.iskouk.org/conf2011/programme.htm respectively.
