Potential new feature X: lower-level interface to directly upload/download/check/delete remote files

Hi Joe & Co.,

I've recently discovered sitecopy -- though I'm more intersted in
making use of its ability to transfer files over Dav, ftp, and ssh; I
haven't seen a general "pluggable" library like this before that can
handle multiple protocols. However, the current setup is very high
level, for managing an entire site, not low-level for managing
individual transfers. So what I'm interested in adding (unless you can
suggest alternatives) is an alternative syntax, where instead of
specifying a site to update, you would specify individual files and
servers along with the action desired.

Does that seem reasonable? Should I be looking at other packages that
have already done what I'm looking for?

Regards,
Dan Wood
