Set idle timeout?

Trying to fetch a (large) remote site, using a dial up connection, I get
this error:

PI socket closed: Could not read response line: connection was closed by
server.
sitecopy: Failed to fetch file listing for site `bioholist':
sitecopy: 421 No Transfer Timeout (300 seconds): closing control
connection.

Using --debug=ftp shows that sitecopy is still verifying the
modification times of the files on the server when the session times
out.

Is there a way to tell sitecopy to send the ftp idle command to increase
the timeout?
