Files with different creation dates marked as new.

I have a genealogy program of some 16-18 MB.  Updates are coming out about 
monthly.  I get it working on my own computer, then send it to the remote 
server with sitecopy.

Although only a few files (approx under 50) are changed with each upgrade, 
sitecopy wants to send the whole directory tree again (1359 items this time.)  
I assume that it is looking at file creation times, which change when I move 
the files into place.  The original download always has original creation 
times of the files.  Can I get around this with md5 checksumming, perhaps, or 
in some other way?

(I have just realized that if I extract the new archive into position in my 
www directory, there should be no problem.  But is there an answer, just the 
same, for this time?)
