Hi,
This is James Phillips of http://zunzun.com, I'm considering
moving zunzun.com from Webware to Skunkweb to take advantage of
multiple processors - or at least multicore processors. I'm on
a Linode Gentoo server, and "emerge skunkweb" worked fine and
the test URL http://localhost:8080 worked fine. The demos also
worked fine *after* I ran "emerge dev-python/imaging" to get PIL.
That made me think a Gentoo-specific install section of the Wiki
would have been handy, with a USE flag for the PIL dependency.
The default Gentoo ebuild installs Skunkweb as, of course,
user skunkweb group skunkweb. The Skunkweb install documentation
recommends running as the same user as Apache, but I received
errors only resolved with "emerge sudo". Even then I cannot
make the user apache and the group apache, so I'm leaving it
at user skunkweb group skunkweb for now until I get that part
figured out. Sudo would make a nice Gentoo USE flag IMHO.
My present problem is getting Skunkweb configured for
virtual hosts under Apache, where Apache does not seem
to talk to Skunkweb even though my mod_skunkweb configuration
and sw.conf files appear correct per the documentation.
Here's what I'd like to ask: if an experienced user can
work with me to resolve the install, I'll make the Wiki
Gentoo install section with all of my notes for you all to
polish up for other newbies like me. Any takers?
