groupToRunAs failure on Fedora 1-64

I've run into a problem starting Skunkweb 3.4b5 on Fedora Core 1 x64. 
Almost certainly a python issue, but it is worth menioning.  

When listening to port 80 I follow the recommendations regarding the
setting of user params in swmgr and sw.conf.  When I start I see this on
my console over and over again.

  SkunkWeb exited abnormally! -- check the error log file
  for details

and this in my error.log file (please forgive the long copy and paste):

Removal of the groupToRunAs option makes this go away, but with the
obvious problem of not being able to set your group.

Environment:

AMD64 running Fedora 1 for AMD64
Python 2.3.3 compiled with GCC 3.4.0 (installed via profiled-boot-strap)
Egenix 2.0.5 compiled with GCC 3.4.0
Skunkweb 3.4b5 configured with --without-mod_skunkweb (compiled and
installed against the python and gcc versions described above)
