I haven't looked myself but how trivial would it be to change the xpath 
to retreive the last x posts for the main page instead of posts from the 
last
x days?

i.e. I've been very busy lately and haven't posted much and now there's 
like only 2 entries on my site and i can envision the query returning 0.
